[After some thought as to what happened to Chloe, maybe Constantine's initial idea of storming into Jack's office and immediately trying to punch him in the face isn't a great idea. Not to mention the fact punching people has had a pretty poor rate of success for Constantine.

So, after he's calmed down a bit and gathered his wits, he takes the elevator and steps into the man's office. As soon as he sets his eyes on the walls, he wrinkles his nose.

Jesus. He hates this already.]

Wanna have a word with you, Jack. Though, you prefer Handsome Jack, don't you?

[He keeps his tone light and casual as he speaks.]

I think it's time we had a chat about business opportunities. You're a CEO, aren't you? I'm sure you'll know a good deal when you see one, and boy, do I have an idea for you.

[His actual goal, of course, is to get more information out of him. Whether or not Jack calls him out on this is the question.]

[...You know what, sure. She'll come up, and while she has a weapon on her, it's just her staff. Nothing that she uses to smash or stab anything, in other words.

Where are you tonight, Jack? Now that you've turned your location on, she just wants to talk.]

[In the time between Constantine gathering his wits and making his way up to Jack's office, the body of Chloe Price has been, mercifully, removed from the floor. Along with any trace of the grisly deed that took place there.

But Jack is there, just as grisly as ever. He's traded his cut up hawaiian shirt for something a bit simpler... a plain white shirt... under a bright red long coat.]

Handsome, yeah. Course, nowadays, I'm starting to consider "captain" Jack... for obvious reasons.

[He turns away from the tall mirror he's seemingly appraising himself with, coming to rest his hands on the desk.]

Heck yeah, buddy. CEO of the Hyperion Corporation. Best business in outer space, mostly because it's got me. [His brow knits.] And I do love a good idea. Okay, hotshot. Fire away.

[This is a bad idea.

This is a bad idea, this is a bad idea, why is she doing this it's a bad idea!! Flayn trembles as she takes the elevator up to Jack's living quarters. Her hands shake as she grips her phone. She hopes she doesn't drop it.

Is Jack like. Right there? Chilling at his desk or something? Flayn does not want to be here any longer than her humble request dictates.]

[Yeager's here to brave heading on up to Jack's office, and he's hopefully more chill since he didn't just kill someone with a doll today, so maybe this won't be a total disaster!!

It's getting toward nightfall when Yeager enters, raising a hand and his voice as he does.]

Captain! Do you have a moment to talk?

[He definitely didn't bring his scythe or anything, don't worry about that.]

[Constantine clasps his hands together, as if ready to make a pitch to Jack like he was on Shark Tank.]

I see you've gotten your hands on plenty of interesting stuff-- [He enunciates his words as if he were spitting out an unpleasant bit of food from between his teeth.] I mean, first you take charge of Davy Jones, of all entities, and now voodoo? Can't help but respect your tenacity and resourcefulness, mate.

[That's a bold-faced lie--Constantine does not respect Jack in the slightest. But he doesn't let it show, at least.]

But what if I told you I could hook you up with more? Imagine the kings of hell at your beck and call, ready to smite whoever you want or revive whoever you want. I know an opportunity when I see one--all you gotta do is let me in on your little job, and we can work something out.

[At this hour, Jack is - Where else? - standing in front of his impressive, floor-length mirror, apparently set on smoothing down his coat.]

-Yeah, just a few more, and we are in the-

[Hm? Whether or not Freyja made a sound, Jack turns, spotting her, and all too quickly greeting her with open arms.]

No bells on you, huh? Ah well, make yourself at home. Seeing as you currently live in mine.

[As much as it makes her want to spit, she bows her head a little, respectfully.]

I appreciate the welcome, Lord Jack, and I apologize for disturbing you if I have.

[It might be good!! You never know!!

Jack isn't at his desk right now. Rather, he's standing at the top of the room, at the console and wheel that, presumably, controls the entire ship.

He seems preoccupied with something, for the moment.]

[Jack listens. He even seems to be listening intently to Constantine's spiel. His hands idly sort through a few papers on top of his desk - notes and typed documents cleared to a side... and something blue under it all.]

Well, you don't get to where I am in the business world without collecting a few pieces of badass shit. Rival company certificates, my former boss's goatee, a living heart...

[He catches himself, regarding john with a full smile and even a laugh.]

Great pitch, by the way. Easily in the top ten I've watched before shoving a guy out an airlock. Tempting, too. It's got pizazz. Just a shame that what you described is basically what I'm already working on.

Oh, for my passengers? Always. Well, not always. You suckers do have to sleep sometimes, you know?

[So says Jack, seated at his desk, a extra large cup of coffee labeled "Number #1 CEO" sitting on a coaster beside him.]

What's on your mind, kiddo?

[He kinda. Nods at her?? We're doing this, then.]

Whoahoho, lord is a bit much... ah, even for me.

[Maybe. He'll think on it.]

Ah, it's nothing special. Just a little pep talk. [Claps his hands together.] So! What can I do for you today?

[...kiddo............]

Ja, it's true, regrettably most of us do require sleep sometimes!

[Except Data, apparently!! But anyway.]

Something you said during the trial has been keeping me awake, though... [it really hasn't.] You mentioned that you didn't create these rules. I was under the impression that this whole operation was your doing - if you didn't make the rules, then who did?

I have a question about what happened today, if I may. With...ah, with Chloe.

Why was she killed? Because as far as I can see, she didn't actually break a rule.

[Hmm, now that's interesting! Constantine paces the width of the room, trying to make his movement seem natural as he tries to get a better view of whatever's under Jack's desk.

He also notes the usage of airlock as opposed to...well, any other word, really. He lets out a small tsk-ing noise, shaking his head.]

Damn shame, really. Though, I suppose it goes to show I know what kind of things a man like you aims for, huh? Mind if I ask for some feedback? Always lookin' to improve my work, you know how it is.

[...

She could just. Turn around and pretend she didn't try asking this, but.]

E-Excuse me? Captain?

Ah. [Head cocked, he nods.] That didn't need to happen. But, y'know. Sometimes bad things do.

[Jack rolls his shoulders.]

It's pretty simple: she came at me with a knife, and I defended myself. Pretty sure there is a rule about that.

Huh? Whazzat?

[He glances over his shoulder, and,]

Oh! Hey. Didn't even hear you come in. Uh, one sec.

[He does... well, something to the consoles in front of him, and steps away from the wheel. A few hops and a skip down the stairs leads him to Flayn.]

What brings you to el casa del Jack?

[Listen. He's old.]

Oh. Right. That.

[...]

You know, this whole 'Battle Royale' type thing wasn't my idea. Even if I'd like to take credit for it.

[Jack turns to watch him pace, not taking his eyes off of the man. Considering he'd already been targeted once this week, it may be reasonable.]

Oh, well, if you're asking for feedback, you've come to the right guy. I'm something of a motivator. Y'know, I wasn't always this rich or powerful, or amazingly buff. It's all about really sticking to your guns and going after what you want, you know?

[Constantine's view will line up well enough to what was sitting on Jack's desk, previously hidden away under a stack of loose papers: A blueprint. What looks like a couple scribbled equations, some half-hidden schematics too hard to make out completely. It's just a corner poking out after all... save for the embellished initials, R.L.]

[Her brow furrows a little, delicately; she brings out her device to check.]

There was no rule against it at the time of the incident...

[Mm.]

Enforcing something retroactively is hardly fair. Though I do agree with you, that sometimes unfortunate things happen. I've never said they don't.

[Flayn is like. Far too nervous to notice that he even does anything to the consoles, she's moreso focused on the man who could use a doll to rip her head off, ya know?

She looks down at her phone, fumbles, turns it on, and presents her motive picture to Jack - the one with herself and the Professor and her father and Rhea and all the house leaders together and smiling and unmarred by war.]

C-Could I please have a...physical c-copy of this portrait? P-please?

[R.L., huh....Constantine may be pushing his luck, but he is going to start inching forward, closer towards Jack's desk. Seeing if he can make out the blueprints a little more without Jack noticing. Of course, Jack's walking him like a hawk right now, and there's always the risk that Constantine's not as subtle as he thinks.]

Oh! I did see a little pamphlet of yours down in the cafe, you seem to be quite accomplished. I assume you had to claw your way through the competition, and it takes a leader of your might willing to do what it takes to run such a successful company.

[He's hoping these compliments do...something.]

Really, it seems like you had it all...what ever changed your mind to set your sights upon the sea?

Really? It seems a bit of an odd thing to just do for fun, ja?

[Jack's definitely got his eyes on Constantine, especially as she nears the desk. But a compliment is a compliment, perfect to stroke a man's ego and keep him preoccupied with his own thoughts.]

Now you're speaking my language! I'm the whole package, man! Yeah, I started as a lowly code monkey, doing my work for the higher ups, but I saved Hyperion. And I also strangled the previous CEO to death after he'd pissed me off one too many times...

[Jack's mind seems to drift.]

Nah, it's like. You know, sometimes you find yourself in a place you didn't expect. A whole new world. And you decide to make something of it. Get a tip from a new source about all the loot and power you could want. Get a bigass ship because... Hell, who doesn't want to be a captain of the seas? And all it takes is-

[He catches himself, as if snapped from a trance. And looks at Constantine.]

Wait, wai-wait. What's going on here?
